Review:
I purchased this bag from my local fly shop after looking for an all around bag that can hold my travel rod tubes & all of my gear needed for Drifter trips. Most hard suitcases I already owned were either incorrectly shaped, not tall enough or were not designed to handle the elements of travel fishing. The Storm Shadow bag does an excellent job of keeping the fisherman in mind. It has 2 spots for standard rod tubes to be strapped and secured to the hard bottom base of the bag keeping them protected and out of the way. It has plenty of space for clothes for the week, fishing gear and other travel necessities. It offers many access points for ease of reaching gear all throughout the bag without having to dig which is always a plus while traveling. It has a waterproof shell for all weather conditions which makes it a great bag for trips like the Pelican when boat travel is on the itinerary and your gear can get wet. Now for the negatives. This bag comes with a hefty price tag of $499 which does include a lifetime warranty for any defects in the product which they stand by. When traveling by car the soft half of the bag is not an issue but when leaving expensive gear up to the baggage people at the airport it is always a gamble. I would have liked to see a little more protection on more than just one side of the bag. Lastly I personally enjoy swivel wheels on bags giving me more control when lugging it through the airport. This bag has stationary wheels which make it more sturdy but less maneuverable. Overall I do think this is a solid bag and if you plan on traveling a lot with the club I think it is worth the purchase.
