Review: This small speaker punches way above its weight class. It has durability, portability and does its job very well. The ranger is a little different from the original Turtlebox that most of us are familiar with. It is a smaller, more portable version of the original. It carries some of the great features such as being life proof and waterproof. This version does not float but is still a great option for the skiff if you want something small for the skiff runs from flat to flat. It is also a great speaker for hitting the links. It has a magnetic back to it so it will anchor to anything it can, from the truck to the boat or to the golf cart it can stick to it and be out of the way. It comes with the new party mode that allows for you to link to all the new lineup of turtleboxes to obtain maximum sound levels when at the sandbar or the campsite. I love almost everything about this speaker as much as the original which I also have but my one bone to pick would be the sound quality when you reach more than 50% volume. The Ranger certainly can get VERY loud but the clarity of the sound plummets quickly when that 50% level is surpassed. Don’t get me wrong, less than 50% is plenty loud for most occasions but if you really want to crank this thing it will sound very garbled. The battery life is stellar as I have used it for all day occasions and never surpassed 50% battery life. This will make its debut at East End Lodge next week with the Drifter crew. At $250 it is a pricey speaker but in my opinion it is worth it. As an avid golfer and angler this has a spot in the bag every time.
